We want a world where people who need support, due to a learning or a physical disability or because of a mental or physical health condition, are valued equally, feel listened to and are included.

Our every action here at Positive Steps Care & Support is about making this world a reality. We want to contribute to improving the quality of life of the people we support, for them to have stronger friendships and relationships, for them to be better connected to their communities, and to help them reach their goals and aspirations.

We want more families to receive the right support and early.

We want to see an increase in the skills and understanding of healthcare professionals, so that health outcomes for people improve. But above all we want to make a real difference.

We support people with diverse requirements in their own home and out in the wider community. Improving the lives of these people who need and rely on our care and support is at the forefront of what we do.

We exist to enable anyone who needs support to live their life in the way they choose. We do that by
providing high-quality, person-centred care and support.

We deliver this around the clock or on an ‘as and when’ basis that focuses on enabling each individual to achieve their dreams and truly live free – whether this means attending activities, appointments, work placements and holidays.

Our vision: Our vision is care and support that is well led with a sensitive and respectful approach to empower the people with a voice and control over the support they receive.

Our mission: Our mission is to recruit and develop a team that embraces the vision and values of this company to provide person centred care and support.

To us, this means listening to what is important to the individuals we support and helping them to reach their goals and aspirations through promoting choice, control and independence.

We’re here to improve the lives of people we support and their families. We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and pride ourselves on having an on-call service which always has an experienced member of the team to take the time required to be able to support you with your requirements.

Our services could include helping someone join in with local leisure activities, helping someone to live independently for the first time, and even things like reporting a crime to the police or food shopping. In a nutshell, we try to help in any area of a person’s life where they need support and include them in every step of the decision process so that their service is tailored specifically to them.

We ensure that the support we provide is high-quality, and focuses completely on what matters to the individual being supported. We aim to empower all our staff to be leaders in quality, providing them with the skills and knowledge that they need to be able to continuously improve the lives of the people they support.

Our support is regulated or accredited by a number of independent bodies:

Care Quality Commission (CQC) – Our support is regulated by the Care Quality Commission. The CQC inspect all registered care services to make sure they provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care.

South West Training – Our staff have been trained with the skills they need to do their jobs, and have embarked on a range of courses in First Aid, Food Safety, Infection Control, Medication Administration and many others.

CHAS – CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) has been helping to improve health and safety standards across the UK and safeguarding organisations from risk since 1997. They work in partnership with leading industry bodies and independent organisations to provide clients and contractors alike with a single solution for accreditation, risk assessment, supply  chain management and industry training.

Disability Confident – The Disability Confident scheme supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to your workplace.

“I am a parent who’s severely disabled son has challenging behaviour and complex needs. Positive Steps Care & Support have given us a way forward of caring for our son in his own family home. Also, I know I can phone at any time and someone is there to listen. The amazing team who support us are highly experienced and professional and have also fitted easily into a family environment in a friendly way. Yes, life has changed for us, but for the better! I can highly recommend Positive Steps as a care company, it’s an amazing positive way forward with outstanding care and support! Kind regards Karen Harris”

“Positive Steps have provided excellent support for my son. My son has a full spinal cord injury and requires a complex package of support, alongside understanding around Autism and Severe Learning Disability. The carers have been consistent and this has enabled my son to become comfortable and familiar with them. This has been vital to his stability around his autism. They have been
friendly, and very keen to learn and gain skills to enable them to give excellent care. They are positive and enthusiastic to achieve goals, and as a family we are so pleased and appreciate that Positive Steps are involved in his care. From Jackie”

Sue Laurie (Support Worker)

I have worked for Positive Steps from the start and thoroughly enjoy the work that I do, supporting people in their own homes and within their local community.

I feel totally supported by my manager Dawn, and her experienced office team, not only when supporting my clients but also within my personal life.

Every day is different and I know that someone is only a phone call away should I have any questions or need support with a new client.
I can highly recommend Positive Steps not only from an employee perspective, but also as someone who would want the well trained, professional and experienced staff to support a member of my own family.

Chanelle Venes (Support Worker)

I have worked for Positive Steps for just over 2 years and I have truly loved it. It’s the first care company I have worked for that I have genuinely enjoyed and felt content. I have had the pleasure of supporting some wonderful clients and had fantastic on going support from my colleagues, managers and boss along the way. We have a great team with great communication and staff that always go that little bit further to ensure clients and peers are happy. For example, I was recently surprised with a lovely gift and card from my boss for hard work I’d been doing which I thought was so lovely. The team are always very eager to ensure each individual client is doing well and receiving the best of care. Over all I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else!
